Certificate Course on Stress and Stress Management in collaboration with International University

Hindustan College of Arts & Science, School of Sciences, Department of Psychology organized a short-term certificate course on ‘Stress and Stress Management in collaboration with the Department of Psychology, School of Humanities and Social Sciences, PAC University, Kenya.

It had 33 enrolments for the program, 28 students from HCAS, Chennai, and 5 students from PAC University, Chennai. The course was scheduled for the duration of 30 hours spanned across 12 days from 1st March to 12th March 2021. The faculty from both PAC University and Hindustan College of Arts & Sciences participated in the inauguration program conducted on 1st March. Various sessions were held on topics as Status of Stress in today’s scenario, Stress in DSM-5, Major types of stress, Factors contributing to stress, Models of stress, Indian Thought on stress, Tools for testing Stress levels, Techniques of coping stress, and Stress Management Techniques.

Dr. Margaret Mwenje, Dean, Humanities and Social Sciences, PAC University Dr. Elizabeth Kamau, Head, Department of Psychology, PAC University Dr. Ruth Kamunyu, Lecturer, Department of Psychology, PAC University Dr. Ann Wambugu, Senior Lecturer, Dept. of Psychology, PAC University Mr. Amos Keya, Lecturer, Dept. of Psychology, PAC University Mrs. A. Uma Maheswari, Head, Dept. Of Psychology, HCAS Dr. R. Sakthiprabha, Dean, Humanities and Social Works, HCAS are the faculty from both HCAS and PACU handled the classes. 

Course Assessment and Evaluation were done online and feedback forms from students were collected. The Dy. Vice-Chancellor, i/c. Academics & Students Affairs, Prof. Dionysious Kiambi, Pan Africa Christian University, Kenya was the chief guest for the Valedictory program on 12th March. Certificates were distributed to all 33 participants for successfully completing the course.

Mrs. A. Uma Maheswari, Head Department of Psychology, HCAS gave the welcome address followed by the dignitaries on the forum. The Director Dr. Susan Marthandan, HCAS, the Principal Dr. S. Thirumagan, HCAS, Dr. Margaret Mwenje, Dean, Humanities and Social Sciences, PAC University, Dr. Elizabeth Kamau, Head, Department of Psychology, PAC University addressed the gathering on different topics as scheduled as well congratulating and wishing the participants, while Dr. S. Illanjiam, Dean, School of Science, HCAS presented the Vote of Thanks, thanking everyone for making this occasion a grand success.
